Add it to the list: CO2 can make you fat

oye![h/t to Gator] New Theory: CO2 makes you fat from ScienceNordic; just add it to the list.

No, this is not 1 April – and this is not an April Fool’s hoax.

Mad as it may sound, Danish researchers have announced a theory that may not only explain why people all over the world are getting fatter and fatter, but also warn of the serious consequences for life on Earth of continued pollution of the atmosphere by CO2 emissions.

In itself, the theory is quite simple: CO2 contributes to making us fat.

“There’s something in the air”

The theory arose several years ago, when Lars-Georg Hersoug studied the development of obesity among people who had been followed over a number of years in the so-called MONICA studies (Monitoring of Trends and Determinants in Cardio-vascular Disease) in Denmark. These studies have mapped the lifestyles of thousands of Danes.

Hersoug was surprised to see that both fat and thin people taking part in the studies over a 22-year period had put on weight – and the increase was proportionately the same.

I found this article. It dosent specific ally mention CO2 as the culprit, but this study was not available then and they mistakenly thought it was due to her eating 55lbs of lard a day.

you know, that's the thing about the health nuts. they push and push for everybody to eat healthier, but then make the junk cheap and the stuff that's good for you expensive.
So, either stop makiung junk cheap, or healthy stuff so expensive.

They should do a study linking the increase in CO2 levels to longevity.

Expected average lifespan in 1850 was 63 and now with the increased CO2 levels lifespan is up to 75.

I hope to be able to raise money for further, more comprehensive trials of this theory which is probably linked to global warming thus proving the role of CO2.

Thank you for reading this

So the fact that more people have jobs that involve little to no physical exertion as compared to the past, that in developed countries caloric intake is generally higher than in the past, and that in general people eat more than they were able to in past generations while doing less due to the presence of devices and processes to handle what used to be done manually doesn't have anything to do with it?

Could it also be that if we monitor the same group of people over 22 years that their lifestyle changes along with their metabolism.

This sounds more like more of the "we can link it to CO2 and get more money/attention" type of "science" to me.

The final paragraph sums it up (the emphasis is mine):

Quote:
Hersoug and his colleagues will soon start conducting trials with rats to see whether they can support the hypothesis – or pull the carpet out from under it. They hope to be able to raise money for further, more comprehensive trials of e.g. the role different types of nutritious diets play together with CO2.

From what i understand the highest Co2 concentration in the world is in the amazon rainforest, according to japanese reseqrch satelitte. I suppose their are gonna be alot of fat amazonians. This researcher needs to learn more about cause and effect. Generally Co2 is the cause of peoples lifestyle which also causes them to grow fat.

However i have an altertavite theory to why the average population is getting fatter. Poor skinny people can no longer afford to live due to spirilling price of electricity and food (caused by enthanol subsidies) making the remaining popluation fatter. Increased food prices wilo also mean people will less likely be able to affore lean meat, instead they are forced to buy fatty chuncks of meat.

Ok now where is my grant.. lol

th a carbon tax and ethanol subsidy has made living so exensive

opps i forgot to add that the skinny poor people starve to death or freeze to death, hence the average person becomes fatter.

constitutionalvoices.org/bloggers/freedomblogger2/ No matter how cynical you are please look at this site and others with this information with an open mind. The UK is suffering from terrible drought conditions, food prices are sky high and there are going to be food shortages, food is more and more expensive, car fuel is £1.50 a ltr (not gallon) a litre! The EU has imposed a carbon tax on all flights, rickets in our children, unheard of for 50 years, has resurfaced. Everyone is talking about fears for the future and things just not feeling right, although at the same time openly questioning if they are paranoid and being scared to have been the first one to voice their concerns. A bit like the start of questioning the AGW pushers.

Any obese or just fatties out there that believe this, should take immediate steps to starve themselves of CO2. That would be the least that they could do to save the planet.

Hey Gator,
Good song from Tim Wilson - Beer Belly Blues.

But he forgot to sing Beer Bellies are caused by co2 and not beer.
